TRIO Smartcal has been setting the standard for testing the electrical safety of appliances since the late 60's.
TRIO Smartcal has been involved in the design and development of the Portable Appliance Tester (PAT) since the late 60's. At that time there was no Australian Standard to outline how Electrical Appliances should be checked for electrical safety. In fact, the current standard (AS/NZS 3760), was first published in 1990.
The current model SafeTcheck is the result of the PAT’s evolution into an extremely sophisticated Appliance Tester. It is still the only tester to check for the complete circuit when testing double insulated appliances (Class 2) - most, if not all others will pass an appliance even if it is not connected to the tester. Features like this have set it apart from the rest. It would be true to say that the more sophisticated the PAT, the less the operator will have to know or to worry about - a very important factor to consider when an employer has an employee or contractor perform electrical safety checks on thousands of appliances.
